Mr and Mrs Quiz Questions: 30 to Ask on Your Anniversary
Mr and Mrs quiz questions are a simple game where each partner answers questions about the other, then you compare answers and score a point for every match. It takes about half an hour, costs nothing, and is a lovely way to spend an anniversary evening. Below are 30 questions in four rounds, plus the rules and a few ideas to make it more fun.
How to play the Mr and Mrs quiz
Each of you needs a pen and a piece of paper. One person reads a question aloud, you both write what you think your partner would say, and then you reveal. If the answers match, score a point. At the end, the higher score wins. The trick is to write the answer your partner would give, not the one you would give yourself, and that is where the laughs come from.
Mr and Mrs quiz questions to ask
Use all four rounds or pick your favourites. Rounds one and three suit any couple, round two is made for an anniversary and round four is good for a quieter, more romantic evening.
Round 1: Know your partner
- What is your partner's favourite meal?
- What is the one film they will happily watch again and again?
- Which song would they pick for a first dance today?
- What is their biggest pet hate?
- Which drink do they order first on a night out?
- What did they want to be when they were a child?
- Which room in the house do they spend the most time in?
- What would they save first in a fire, besides people and pets?
Round 2: Our story
- Where did we have our first date?
- Who said 'I love you' first?
- What was the first gift we gave each other?
- Where were we when we got engaged, or when we decided to marry?
- What was the song at our wedding that everyone remembers?
- Who was more nervous on the wedding day?
- What was the first holiday we took together?
- Which of us is better at remembering anniversaries?
Round 3: Everyday life
- Who takes longer to get ready?
- Who is more likely to lose their keys?
- Who steals the duvet?
- Who is the better driver, and who says so?
- Who does the most laundry?
- Who would survive longest without a phone?
- Who is more likely to cry at a film?
- Who is the better cook?
Round 4: The future
- Where would they most like to live one day?
- What trip is top of their bucket list?
- What would they do with a surprise week off?
- What is their dream way to spend a Saturday?
- What do they hope we are doing in ten years?
- What is one thing they want to learn?
Ways to make the game more fun
Raise the stakes with small prizes: the winner chooses the film, or the loser does the washing up. Play it as a double date by asking each couple to answer about their own partner and giving bonus points for the most surprising answer. If you have been together a long time, try it with a rule that anything the other person has said in the last month counts double, which makes you listen.
A game also makes a handy centre for a wider evening. Pair it with dinner, then follow it with a few ideas from our marriage bucket list or the how to mark a wedding anniversary guide. If you want to leave a note in the card afterwards, our guide on what to write in an anniversary card will help.
Small gifts that go with the game
A quiz night is a good excuse for a small gift. The Him or Her flip coin (£10.34) settles any tie, the love tokens (£5.74) make a cheerful prize, and the metal couple figurine (£18.39) is a keepsake to mark the occasion. For something to give your wife, the To the Moon and Back pendant (£35.64) is a lovely choice. - How do you play Mr and Mrs?
- Each partner writes answers about the other, then you reveal them and score a point for every match. Keep the questions short and keep score on paper, so nobody can argue afterwards.
- How many questions do you need?
- Twenty to thirty is plenty for an evening. Our list has thirty, which gives you a full game with a few spare for a tiebreak.
- What are good Mr and Mrs questions for an anniversary?
- Mix easy facts like favourite meals with shared memories like your first date, then add a few about the future. Our story round works best on an anniversary.
- Can you play Mr and Mrs with friends?
- Yes. Two couples can play head to head, or a group can take turns answering about their partner while the others guess.
- What should the winner get?
- Something small and daft works best: a cuppa in bed, first pick of the film or a handmade token to cash in later.
